What Is Hifz?

Memorize the Quran — The Greatest Honor in Islam

Becoming a Hafiz of the Quran is one of the greatest honors in Islam. The Prophet ﷺ said: "The one who is proficient in reciting the Quran will be with the honorable and obedient angels." (Bukhari)

Hifz (حفظ) means memorization of the entire Quran — all 114 Surahs, 30 Juz, and 6,236 verses. A person who has memorized the complete Quran is called a Hafiz (male) or Hafiza (female).

  • Keeps the words of Allah in your heart forever
  • Earns the intercession of the Quran on the Day of Judgment
  • Honors your family — the Hafiz will crown his parents with a crown of light
  • Deepens your understanding of every Salah you pray
  • Connects you to an unbroken tradition of Quranic preservation

Allah has promised: "And We have certainly made the Quran easy to remember — so is there anyone who will be mindful?" (Surah Al-Qamar 54:17)

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا
الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ
لَحَافِظُونَ
"Indeed, it is We who sent down the reminder and indeed, We will be its guardian." — Surah Al-Hijr 15:9

Our Hifz Method

How Our Online Hifz Program Works

We follow the proven methods used in traditional madrassas — adapted for focused, one-on-one online learning.

1

Placement Assessment (Free)

Your teacher assesses your current Quran recitation level. This determines where to begin — whether that is Juz Amma, Surah Al-Baqarah, or from the very beginning. No charge for this session.

2

New Lesson (Sabaq)

Each session, your teacher introduces a new portion of the Quran — typically 3–10 lines depending on ability. You repeat it until you can recite it from memory without looking.

3

Revision (Saabiqah & Manzil)

The previous day's lesson is revised at the start of every class. Previously memorized Surahs are regularly tested to keep them fresh. Nothing is ever truly "done."

Hifz Curriculum

What You Will Memorize

Structured phase-by-phase memorization from Juz Amma to the complete Quran — at your pace.

Phase 1 — Foundation (Juz 30 — Juz Amma)

Most students begin here — the short Surahs used in daily prayers

These short Surahs are the foundation of every Muslim's Quranic knowledge. Children typically complete Juz Amma within 6–12 months.

An-Nas · Al-Falaq · Al-Ikhlas Al-Masad · An-Nasr · Al-Kafirun Al-Kawthar · Al-Ma'un · Quraysh Al-Fil · Al-Asr · Al-Zalzalah Al-Qadr · Al-Alaq · At-Tin All 30 Surahs of Juz Amma
Phase 2 — Juz 29 & 28

Building confidence through medium-length Surahs

Phase 3 — Full Quran (Juz 1–30)

Complete memorization of the entire Quran — Juz by Juz

Structured memorization with consistent revision at every stage. Students who complete this earn the title of Hafiz and receive a certificate from Quran Scholars.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our online Hifz program.

What age is best to start Hifz?
Children between 5 and 15 have the sharpest memory for Quran memorization. However, adults of any age can memorize the Quran. We have students in their 30s, 40s, and 50s successfully memorizing Juz by Juz. There is no age limit — only a decision to start.
How long does it take to memorize the entire Quran?
It varies widely based on age, session frequency, and consistency. Children attending daily classes typically complete the full Quran in 3–5 years. Adults focusing on Juz by Juz can complete individual Juz within weeks to months. Consistent daily revision is the most important factor.
Does my child need to read Arabic before starting Hifz?
Ideally, yes. Students should be able to read Quranic Arabic (with Tajweed) before beginning full Hifz. If your child cannot yet read Arabic, we recommend starting with Noorani Qaida first — typically 3–6 months before Hifz is ready to begin.
How many classes per week are recommended for Hifz?
We recommend 5–6 classes per week for children working toward full Hifz. For adults or students doing selected Surahs, 3 classes per week is sufficient. Daily sessions produce the fastest and most lasting results.
Will the memorization last? What about forgetting?
The revision system in our program (Saabiqah and Manzil) is specifically designed to prevent forgetting. Research shows that consistent, spaced revision keeps memorized content long-term. Students who maintain their revision schedule do not forget.
Can a student memorize only selected Surahs, not the entire Quran?
Absolutely. Many of our students focus on important Surahs such as Surah Al-Mulk, Surah Al-Kahf, Surah Yasin, or Surah Ar-Rahman. You do not need to commit to full Hifz to benefit from Quran memorization classes.
Are there female Hafiza teachers available?
Yes. We have qualified female Hafiza teachers who can teach sisters and girls. Request a female teacher when you register and we will match you immediately.
What are the fees for online Hifz classes?
Quran memorization classes start at $29/month. Your first class is always completely free — no payment or credit card required to get started.
